Butterfly Workshop
Body Kind Sports is an initiative of the Butterfly Foundation, developed to help sporting communities foster environments where poor body image and disordered eating aren’t barriers to young people reaching their potential in sport – and in life.
In partnership with the Peel Regional Academy of Sports, the Butterfly Foundation is providing an essential online workshop for parents and care-givers of adolescent athletes. The topics explored in a strength-based way, include:
- What body image is and why it matters in sport.
- Key influences on body image.
- Body ideals and pressures on adolescent athletes
- The importance of language and the role of comparisons
- Key pressures for adolescent athletes and warning signs of body dissatisfaction and disordered eating and what to do if concerned.
- How to support your adolescent’s body image as a person and an athlete.
- The power of role modelling BodyKind in the home environment.
