Athlete Development

Nutrition

Our nutrition services is delivered by Julie Meek and Eliza Kelly, both vastly experienced sports dieticians. Sessions are delivered on a 1:1 basis with the athlete (and parent) and the dietician. First year athletes begin this process with an initial consultation (returning athletes with a follow up appointment) which also involves an examination of the athlete's blood results obtained during the induction process. This enables our dieticians to identify any potential deficiencies (e.g., low iron) and make appropriate eating plans for each athlete. Follow up sessions are provided as required and with the approval of the PRAS High Performance Manager.

Psychology

Our sport psychology service is delivered by highly experienced sport psychologist Sandy Gordon. First year athletes complete DISC profiling and debriefing with Sandy. This process identifies how people tend to behave and communicate in different environments, which can be subsequently used to improve performance. Following this athletes are provided with a mental skills training workbook, focusing on the development of a range of skills including focus, reflection, performance anxiety, creating and sustaining a performance zone, growth mindset, and self-regulation. This workbook is then debriefed in 1:1 session(s) with Sandy. Returning athletes perform mental skills refresher training with Sandy utilising the workbook. â€‹All athletes are afforded additional sessions based on an individual need and with the approval of the PRAS High Performance Manager.
